Manager Heather Parkinson has been interested in animals most of her life.
Her first pet was a grey cat called Smokey, who unfortunately died in 2006, aged 17.
During her childhood years Heather owned rabbits, hamsters and goldfish; and worked on a local smallholding, looking after rabbits, ducks and hens, and riding and looking after a horse called Misty.
Heather's first dog was a Yorkshire Terrier, called Kingsley, who now lives with her Mum. Kingsley is 11.
During 2003 Heather attended Myerscough College and studied Small Animal Care. She passed with Distinctions.
In 2003, Heather's interest turned to Reptiles, snakes to be exact, and she bought a Corn Snake. Since then, Heather has taken on 2 rescue snakes. A Corn Snake called Colin, and a Garter Snake called Lilo.
In 2004 Heather bought a Bullmastiff called Teagan, after meeting and falling in love with a Bullmastiff at Myerscough College.
She fell in love with the breed for their loyalty and fun loving attitude. Teagan is now nearly 5; she is a loyal dog and friendly to everyone she meets. Teagan's favourite things in life are sleeping, playing with other dogs and people, and of course, eating.
Kirkham Pet Centre has a collection tub for old/used leads, collars, and unwanted food and toys.
When emptied, the contents go to local rescues such as Longview Animal Centre, and Roachdale Dog Rescue.
